Near Death Experience

For those of you that do not know, I drive for a living. Independent contractor I am called. I do not do over the road, all my driving is local and for the school system. Driving pays the bills, puts food on the table and a roof over my head.

This morning I was traveling down Blair Road heading towards Rock Springs. Now before I go any further, those of you that know this road know how narrow and curvy it is. As I topped the hill an eighteen wheeler came around the curve heading toward me.

The truck itself was on its side of the road but the trailer was not. The rear of the trailer was heading straight towards my mirror and me. With barely a piece of shoulder I took the bus off the side and nearly flipped.

Thankfully, noone was injured, the bus wasn’t damaged, I was able to get back up on the road and finish my route.

This could have been more serious. For a brief moment all I could think about were my legs and the kids sitting behind me. If this truck had hit us, not only could I have lost my legs, the bus surely would have been pushed off the road causing us to land on our side.

Pointing the finger at the driver would do us no good. It’s the city’s fault and the states. The city’s for not keeping the roads up as development continues, the states for not funding more small road improvements.

Seriously La Vergne, WAKE UP!

Whew, close call! I’m really sorry to hear you and the children were put at risk like that. I’m glad you’re all safe and sound.

  3. Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. I agree that the county does need to make the improvments needed to make the roads safer. As a truck driver, you should always know where your truck and trailer are and obviously the driver approaching you didnt pay attention. Drivers like that shouldnt be driving. Luckily we can all recall close calls and with a little luck, can rally loud enough to get local politicians to listen and fix the necessary problems before a tragic event forces necessary fixes.

Wow! What a horrible experience. Glad to hear everyone was ok in the end.
